Members of Rochford District Council have enjoyed a tour of the site of Beech Grove Homes’ new £17.9 million housing development in the Essex village of Hockley.

The construction of 72 properties on the site of the former Bullwood Hall prison is underway and councillors had the chance to see first-hand the progress being made and learn more about the plans.

Due to be completed in the Autumn of 2021, the properties, which are being built by appointed contractor Hill Partnerships, will include 22 homes for affordable rent, as well as properties for shared ownership and outright sale.

Known as Bullwood Gardens, the development will feature two, three, four and five-bedroom family houses as well as one and two-bedroom apartments.

Craig Moule, Sanctuary Group Chief Executive, said: “The regeneration of the former Bullwood Hall prison represents a significant development in the Rochford district and will be a major addition to the housing market.

“It was a pleasure to share our plans for the development with representatives from the council who we will continue to work closely with as we bring these exciting new homes to fruition.”
