Herefordshire primary school pupils will be putting their thinking caps on to come up with street names for a new luxury housing development.

Beech Grove Homes has started work on the delivery of 28 new properties at its exclusive Newlands development in the village of Stoke Lacy.

The development will consist of two, three, four and five-bedroom properties for a variety of purchase options.

Pupils at Burley Gate C E Primary School, near Bromyard, were involved in a special creative workshop where they looked at the history of the area to spark ideas for new names. Some of the best from the day will now be considered by the local council.

The event took place as part of the developer’s MORE programme, which connects with people in places where it is building new homes, helping to engage future residents.

Colleen Eccles, Head of Place Shaping at Beech Grove Homes, said: “It’s very important to us to connect with communities that live near to new developments.

“Children are a key part of the future of any community and running engaging sessions like this at local schools provides a great opportunity to interact with them while also helping to develop their skills.”

Beverley Donald, Headteacher at Burley Gate C E Primary School, added: “This is an excellent initiative we are delighted to be involved with. The children were very engaged throughout the session and responded to the naming competition with lots of enthusiasm and plenty of good ideas.”
